Photo Essay: La Diablada

Our experience at Bolivian Carnaval was amazing, but it’s very hard to put into words what the entire experience was like. It was almost like seeing wild characters from a children’s book come to life. The story behind La Diablada integrates a Christian theme of the Archangel Michael triumphant over the demons of hell. The imagination put into the elaborate costumes was incredible. Hopefully these pictures convey the energy this big event put forth.

A unicycling bear. Sure, why not.

My favorite photo from La Diablada.
